
January 2012 Walks
Thursday 26th January. Distance 5 miles. Alton and the Churnet Valley. Starting from Denstone Village Hall, we take in part of the Staffordshire Way and pass Alton Castle before we arrive at Alton. We return to Denstone along the River Churnet and through parkland and finally a small part of the disused railway. No packed lunch needed, but bring a drink and a snack.

February 2012 Walks
Sunday 5th February. Distance 5 miles. Carsington Pastures. Starting at Carsington village, we will walk to Brassington via a short stretch of the High Peak Trail. Bring a packed lunch or have Sunday lunch at the Miners Arms, Carsington, at the end of the walk. Pub does not take bookings but will be open for lunch and refreshments.

Saturday 11th February. Distance 3-4 miles. This is an easy walk (different to the 13th January's) in the scenic Churnet valley area, starting at the Ramblers Retreat. Bring a drink and a snack.

Tuesday 14th February. Distance 5-6 miles. Historical walk of Burton- of easy going walking alongside canal and riverbank (subject to flooding) and some tarmac roads looking at local places of interest-with some history of Burton and a few of my childhood memories.
